In a week’s time, AfroChic will be hosting it’s 2nd Annual Fundraiser and as always we will celebrate this occasion with an abundance of talent and rich entertainment. On Wednesday, February 15th please join us at Lambadina Lounge (875 Bloor St. W, Ossignton & Bloor) from 7-10pm to experience our city’s most vibrant established and emerging artists. This evening will be hosted by the elegant Makesha Roberts, and will feature visual art, poetry, r&b and hip-hop by: Lelu Angwenyi, Carlos Delgado, Erik Flowchild, Brianna Richards, Yusra Ali, Le’vi Lingwabo, Elle Seon, Felicia Agadzi, Sabrina Moella, Why El and Tendisai. Also, DJ Flacco will set the mood throughout the night with a diverse musical line-up. Admission is a sliding scale between $10-15, and there will be to-die-for door prizes for some lucky guests.
Since our last main event, AfroChic Cultural Arts Exhibit in June 2011, we have expanded our initiatives to include a pilot Camp AfroChic this past August for young girls; AfroChic TV, which will showcase leaders and events in our community; as well as upcoming internships, to ensure that there is adequate support in place to carry out all of our projects.
Your presence next week will contribute to the long term sustenance AfroChic intends to build and preserve, as we continue to learn and grow each year. We know it’s mid-week but in the name of LOVE and Diasporic solidarity, we ask everyone to come out in their Wednesday’s best (aka casual but chic) to make the night a memorable kick-off to our prosperous year ahead!
