A Beautiful Piece by Harmony
Harmony is a Black Bohemian, flower child perhaps…animal lover, fashion designer and overall optimist. She is creative, in art and writing and even music, as she has spent 8 years spent playing the clarinet. Harmony hopes to get back to music, as it feels like a missing component in her life right now. She credits her parents for her early years of artistic guidance and a special credit to her beloved father who chose her name – Harmony. While in college, Harmony grew tremendously with experiencing fun times, heart break and an introduction to her true self. She looks forward to the future, spent with her husband to be, her budding career, family and friends, her cat ‘Toot Toot’, her growing locs and her and her future boo’s little minis to come. Harmony is indeed thankful and blessed. (YT) http://www.youtube.com/user/PeaceandLoveHarmony
Curly Advocate Tamara
I am the TWA Ambassador for IHEARTmyhair, I create hair accessories for Southern Beauty Accessories, I am a natural hair Youtube Vlogger, and I manage the I Heart My TWA fan page on Facebook. I enjoy giving back to my community through volunteer work, organizing donation drives, and mentoring young women. Having natural hair has taught me to love myself for who I am, flaws and all. It has taught me the true definition of beauty. My plan is to share these teachings with as many women as I can.
Toni Daley
Toni was born and raised in Canada to Jamaican parents. She loves art, and jewelry and fashion and hair and everything girly! Toni started to wear her hair natural about 5 years ago but kept it in braids. It wasn’t until she begun to embrace her hair in the last 2 years she then found the youtube and fotki natural community and it’s now her new favourite hobby! Before then she had been chemically treating hair since the age of 7 up until about 5-6 years ago. (2005/ 2006). Toni stopped relaxing her hair because it was falling out, she wore braids/twists for 2 years and had every intention of going back once her hair had recovered….when she took the braids out was when she fell in love with her thick kinky hair even more. Toni realized that we are all on this journey for different reasons and can respect everyone’s journey. Whether it’s about finding your roots, showing your afrocentric side, living a vegan/natural lifestyle, or a fashion statement. The reason you go natural is not important….but the reason that keeps us natural is because we love our hair! that is what we all share and i feel that that is what we should focus on and unite and celebrate instead of focusing on other reasons to cause division within our community. Healthy Naturalista Grace
Grace Diaz is the Managing Director of Isis Wellness Services, I bring over 20 years experience actively working in marginalized communities in the areas of health promotion, community education, and group facilitation. I am also a Certified Yoga Instructor and Natural Health Facilitator. Through knowledge that I have gained on my own healing journey, I have discovered the power of word, conscious intention and action. Isis Wellness Services applies movement, storytelling, voice, yoga, ritual, and nutrition as supportive tools for women, their families, and communities of women to become more self-aware. Through this process, participants are given the resources necessary to make more life affirming choices that will result in healthier mind, spirit, and body. Women are the pillars of our community and by beginning to address their health needs we plant seeds that will lead to the healing and wellness of both black and indigenous communities. As this life vision is actualizing, I accept myself and others as a divine work in progress. I choose to remember the importance of reclaiming my personal power so that I can share, love serve and facilitate the individual and collective wellness of communities of the African Diaspora from a place of authenticity, wholeness, inner authority, strength and power.
