Toni was born and raised in Canada to Jamaican parents. She loves art, and jewelry and fashion and hair and everything girly! Toni started to wear her hair natural about 5 years ago but kept it in braids. It wasn’t until she begun to embrace her hair in the last 2 years she then found the youtube and fotki natural community and it’s now her new favourite hobby! Before then she had been chemically treating hair since the age of 7 up until about 5-6 years ago. (2005/ 2006). Toni stopped relaxing her hair because it was falling out, she wore braids/twists for 2 years and had every intention of going back once her hair had recovered….when she took the braids out was when she fell in love with her thick kinky hair even more. Toni realized that we are all on this journey for different reasons and can respect everyone’s journey. Whether it’s about finding your roots, showing your afrocentric side, living a vegan/natural lifestyle, or a fashion statement. The reason you go natural is not important….but the reason that keeps us natural is because we love our hair! that is what we all share and i feel that that is what we should focus on and unite and celebrate instead of focusing on other reasons to cause division within our community.
